Bemidji Heart & Vascular Center to Open in 2021

Since bringing cardiology to
the region almost 10 years ago, we have significantly impacted the
lives of thousands in need of emergency cardiac care and in the process we’ve
outgrown our current facilities even after multiple remodeling projects in new
Sanford Bemidji heart and vascular center will be 56,000 square feet, making it the largest addition to the
medical center since 2004 the center will be located between the medical
centers, East entrance, and the main clinic construction
will take about 18 months. It will open in the fall
of 2021 when complete. The heart and vascular center will
be home to our cardiology, vascular, pulmonary and respiratory
therapy services. The center will include a cardiac
rehab and pulmonary therapy gym, 19 clinic exam rooms, 11
diagnostic imaging rooms, and three centralized cardiac
catheterization laboratories
with space to add a fourth with direct access to the
second floor of the medical center. The new building will allow patients
to transfer to our inpatient floors and services more smoothly. The new center will also include many
other features that will centralize patient care and give us the space to
add up to three additional providers and electrophysiology in the future with two
and a half million dollars of the cost coming directly from the generosity
of donors who have seen the impact of cardiology close to home and given to
the Sanford health foundations homeless where the heart is Capitol campaign.
With the help of this new center, we will be able to continue our promise
to care for the health needs of our community.
