Hotel Breakfast Etiquette Rules Only Affluent People Know!

Hotel Breakfast Etiquette Rules Only Affluent People Know!

Ladies, welcome to have breakfast with me today! I am going to talk about hotel breakfast etiquette. Etiquette is a very important topic.
There will be loads of more etiquette videos on my channel.
And if you are somebody who are looking into doing a transformation,
I do offer an online training program for women who want to become more elegant,
sophisticated and learn the skills of high society. to find out more So we are at a hotel and we have
two options, we can have breakfast either in our room or we can have breakfast downstairs. Usually, it’s a buffet-style breakfast. Now, which one should we usually opt for? I know people are different,
some are morning people and like to go downstairs. That is me! I love going downstairs for breakfast because
I love seeing the variety of foods and kind of absorb the morning buzz a little bit. But there are people who do not
like that type of thing, who are more slow awakening up type of people and they need their time in the morning and
they might not necessarily want to face people the first thing when they wake up. So those people might order room service instead. I personally tend to alternate.
Sometimes room service if I’m a bit lazy and sometimes I go downstairs if I feel up for it. But I first want to start talking a little bit about
room service etiquette. So how does it work when you order
room service in the five-star hotel? Well, I think it actually works even a 4 and 3-star hotel.
Well, I don’t know, do they have room service? Anyway, in 5-star hotels, they do have room service.
You order your breakfast either the same morning or what I personally prefer doing
is to fill in that little paper thing and hang on your door with your
breakfast request and then you just get it at an expected time in the morning.
Now, when the breakfast arrives, somebody comes with it and there’s usually
a little bit of etiquette around that. First of all, make sure that when you open the door,
you are dressed decent. I feel sometimes sorry for the people who
come and with all the room service things because I’m sure they
to see all kinds of crazy things and uncomfortable situations. And having good manners is about
putting other people at ease and respect other people and not
make them feel awkward. So for that reason, make sure you are dressed,
make sure you know things are in order and your boyfriend is also decent. And I personally think it’s really nice, even if you’re a woman to hold up the door
for the person who comes in with a massive tray or the trolley or a table,
whatever it is that they come in with because their job is not necessarily always easy. So offer them a helping hand,
even though they’re there to serve you. I usually like to ask pretty much immediately
for the bill to sign. Usually, you need to leave a signature. What happens is that when the person comes in
with all the items, he starts you know preparing everything, kind of unpacking
and setting the table for you. And I personally think it’s a little bit awkward
just standing there and watching the person do that. So instead of having that awkwardness,
just start signing the bill and maybe do something else meanwhile
so that there isn’t this kind of stiff uncomfortable moment. Don’t forget when the person leaves,
you say thank you. Now, let’s talk about buffet breakfast etiquette. Because when you go downstairs and join the buffet, there are many do’s
and don’ts to think about. And it’s all about consideration
for other people and of course, behave like a true lady that you really are. Number 1 One of the most important things that I really
think you all ladies should start implementing, do not go greedy just because it is a buffet. I know when you see all these amazing foods, you kind of just want to eat everything in there. But really, it does not look elegant when
a woman is carrying loads of plates, covered like this with food,
everything is just mixed and she is going for thirds and four rounds and that’s not very elegant. So when you are there to choose food,
make sure that you respect the queue, that there are people behind you,
that you’re not standing there in front of each dish, choosing forever and then you have to take that particular food that is underneath that food. No, you pick the one that is on top and you make sure that you don’t finish all of the foods. You leave something for the people behind you. Be conscious about these things. Also, when there are foods, like open foods like that standing around, make sure that you are not there coughing, sneezing, talking loudly,
laughing because bacteria from your mouth is coming on to all of these foods and that’s not hygienic. And when you go and take food,
do not be greedy ladies. We are not starving and it’s not elegant
to take big portions. Go once, go twice and let that be
and don’t pile mountains on your plate. And when you are seated
in the common area with other people, it is very important to think about
that it is morning and you shouldn’t be loud. You shouldn’t be on your phone.
You shouldn’t be laughing or talking loudly. A lot of people are still half-asleep, so please respect the fact that not everybody wants to listen to noise and so on. And lastly, when you take food from the buffet,
only take the food that you will actually eat. One of the things I really don’t like
is when people are wasting food. It’s okay if you are being served the food,
then you can not eat everything. But if you are serving yourself, ladies, you must always finish the food that you have served yourself. It’s not okay to waste food,
it’s not good for our environment, our planet and think about those people
who are not as fortunate to eat as you are. All right, so let’s talk about the actual eating part. Now, we always put our napkin on our lap.
So first things first, what’s elegant to eat as breakfast? I personally think like things like
cereal, croissants, unhealthy things, heavy things like English breakfast and
panna shockula, not the healthiest options. I don’t think that they are very
elegant to eat as a woman in the morning. They’re not even healthy for anybody,
woman or man. So I personally say like, if you want to eat breakfast, definitely eat something that you like and let you enjoy eating. But maybe you should try and be a little bit healthy. Being healthy is definitely elegant. So focus on maybe having a vegetable or a fruit juice, eating some fruits, maybe
having some eggs if you eat that or if you eat dairy you will have some cottage cheese
or yogurt or granola perhaps. Those foods are a little bit more elegant. Now when it comes to what order things
should go in, now usually if you have served yourself juice, you will be
starting with your juice. After you had you juice,
you can move on to some of the cold dishes. For instance, if you have some cereal or maybe have some Bircher muesli
or maybe some yogurts or granola. Cold foods go before warm foods.
I’m only saying this, doesn’t mean you have to eat all of them.
I’m just saying if it happens that you are at a buffet, or you are being served a
continental breakfast and so on and there are different types of foods,
then you know in what order to start. It is quite a lot of food and I’m not necessarily recommending you’re eating all of this. It is a little bit too much but, hey,
on vacation sometimes we do indulge. So, after cold food, we eat warm food like
omelets or scrambled eggs, or well English breakfast if that’s your thing. So here is my omelet but it looks a bit strange. Because it’s been standing here
while I’ve been recording. So I’m gonna put this away. Now after you warm foods, you can have your fruits
and everything that is sweet. If you want to have the crust on now is the time and now it’s also a good time to have your coffee or tea. I wouldn’t suggest having your coffee while you in the process of eating your cold foods or warm foods. Because that just doesn’t go well. Have your tea and your coffee towards the end of the breakfast when you have something sweet with. Now a question to you my ladies, what do you eat for breakfast? I’m really curious. I personally do not eat breakfast actually. Because I follow intermittent fasting.
However, I do like to eat a little bit of breakfast sometimes when I am on a holiday in nice five-star hotels because usually the breakfast is quite good. I hope you enjoyed this video my dear, elegant ladies. Don’t forget that life is an ongoing
transformation and transformation never stops. But, what’s good with transformation is that
it rewards us and the more we invest in ourselves, the more benefits we tend to reap afterwards. So, keep that in mind and I will see you in the next video!

  • I stumbled upon your videos by accident! I do like them very much. As some others have commented, some of these habits should be learned as a child. Common sense that is taught. I feel alot of my generation lack these simple skills. And i of course could use improving. How much of the loss of these skills do you relate to social media and the lack of social interaction? I would say much!
As for the breakfast thing if its just me in the house i to will fast. And have a coffee. If cooking for my fam we eat alot of eggs many different ways. Sometimes toast but not often. Oatmeal is another favorite.

  • Freshly squeezed orange juice, plain or vanilla yogurt with nuts topping, (sometimes I would take a yogurt drink as opposed to the yogurt with nuts or in place of the orange juice depending on what else I choose) a small plate of fresh fruit, and to finish an egg white omelette with spinach and tomato, then coffee or tea depending on the variety.

  • Dont put too much food on your plate. It looks like you think you will get no food later, it can fall down. That is the rule most people sadly doesnt follow.

  • Your coffee will be cold if you first eat something cold, then something warm and then at the end coffee. I am about to have a muffin and a cup of coffee for breakfast

  • I think much of this is basic good manners. Etiquette can be very useful in certain (usually more formal) occasions. If for example you were eating at a table with guests ettiquette enables you to cope. If someone at your table doesnt follow the correct etiquette you would not point it out…that would be bad mannered.

P.S Look presentable ….not representable. Not Cue but queue .. (I'm a stckler for spelling..)

    Thank you for the video

  • I eat sorghum porridge (which is the staple food in our culture) which is sour but very healthy for breakfast. I have it with lactose free milk and I add a bit of sugar. Afterwards I drink a cup of black rooibos tea followed by warm water. I personally don't like eating a heavy breakfast.

  • I've started intermittent fasting and I alternate between organic greek yogurt with chia seeds and berries or perhaps two eggs, avocados, tomato
Sometimes depending on when I break my fast I go straight to salmon Patty (wild caught of course) with homemade tzaziki
    And greens

  • I'm a breakfast person and I can't start my day without it because sometimes I miss lunch or do not eat lunch on time on some days. My typical breakfast would be eggs, sausages, bacon (if I want to indulge) toast and a cup of hot chocolate. On busy days I have quick oats and some fruits (banana or apples). I ? the part of the video that talks about eating cold food before hot food, I didn't know that. Thanks

  • Can you please do a video on how to look classy for the stay at home mom Im always in a hair bun and pajamas but I would like ideas of how to look better and still be comfortable at home

  • Fruit juices are actually not considered a healthy choice. Check the APA site. They contribute to decay and most juices take the fiber out, leaving sugars and minimal nutritional value. Orange juice is very acidic and contributes to enamel damage.

  • Thank you. I usually start morning with warm water, lemon juice and a few drops of apple vinegar in it. It cleans your digestive system in the morning. I eat eggs, avocado toast, and smoothie for the breakfast. ? and please don't skip the breakfast it's really important meal. ?

  • Eat what you want, there is no elegant food.
Behave naturally but not greedy or primitive.
You dont need to be elegant, exept you have complexes. You should feel comfortable, otherwise stay home.

  • You are always so elegant and kind woman! I will think about your advice when I will stay in hotel during holiday(^▽^)/

  • My mother's father owned a spur railroad in the mid-West, which he lost in the Great Depression. She was formal because she was raised by Victorians and she drummed some things into me: Just because you are poor doesn't mean you have to act like it. And, because she became a foster child when her mother died, she said the first thing that the rich people who took her in drummed into her is, "Being polite doesn't cost you a cent".

  • How about tipping room service delivery? I always do. My breakfast is always small, even at a buffet, so all-you-can-eat buffet is a complete waste on me! I always take scrambled eggs, about 2 eggs worth, and an English muffin. I'll eat half the muffin with butter. Or if they have eggs Benedict, I'll take one or two of those. Maybe a slice of strawberry to show that I'm joining in but that's it. No juice, ever, it's pure sugar. I drink water or coffee when I'm out.

  • My go to breakfast are banana, cantaloupe, and grape ice cream. Just throw all frozen food into a high power blends. I know it sounds weird but it’s sooooooooooo good. I also throw in a tbs of powdered pb and a tbs of spirulina. Then I proceed to transfer the “ice cream” to a giant bowl and top with chopped fruit, nuts and seeds.

  • We cannot afford the 5star htls dear!!!!you have to be human wherever you stay, this is the matter!!!And please do not speak all the time about rich people, you may are,it is not so elegant for us the poor !!!!!

  • I like your videos. I am a doctor and married to a rich man… i agree to all your advice… we call it good breeding… more power to you… i admire how you have made yourself an elegant person and now helping other women to be inspired and empowered…

  • Thank you for mentioning manners and being polite to the people serving you. I have broken up with people because of their rudeness to waiters, waitress, room service or valets.

  • You are amazing Anna. I have learned so much from you and every video just gives me so much more knowledge about elegance, I’ve completely transformed my life since I’ve discovered you?✨
    Thank you

  • It is just common sense and countesy to be kind to those in the service industry, because they are handling the monumental task of dealing with people. The things you touched on here Anna are things I was taught growing up. It is truly a shame etiquette of this kind and others you have discussed is not taught in schools anymore, particularly in the U.S.

  • I'm 18 years old and i've been watching your videos for a while now, thank you for teaching us these things society seems to forget so easily

  • Hello. I don't like breakfast. Orange juice and coffee black. Just in case i can have the first morning at the hotel a croissant. How it sounds please?

  • I'm BIG on room service!! $10 minimum tip, if I'm staying a few days I try to find out if the same person is doing breakfast the next day and bribe him up front! Also room service by the pool. Charge my room bill and tip the guy when he shows up.
The other courtesies just go without saying. Works at every Nevada casino I've ever been at!

  • Hello beautiful Anna. Thank you for running such unique wonderful programs you're running. As a doctor, I strongly highly severely and intensely recommend to have at least only one apple for your breakfast and never skip it out, under any circumstances, you might be. You'll know why I'm insisting so much, absolutely very soon. Wish you great surprizing moments on the way.

  • A couple of times I slept in 5* Hotels and I had never any problems to behave well. I always loved that impressive rooms and buffets. (Yoghurt with fruits, french toast with jam and coffee creme is my favorite.) All guests were dressed very casual. With a little bit good manners you are never on a wrong place ?

  • I usually have for breakfast a Cinammon Raisin Bagel and cereal without milk. And usually water. I may add Orange Juice if I am ill, or trying to prevent becoming ill.

  • Hi! I am usually very hungry for breakfast. As in I can finish 3 plates of food when I fast by accident due to work. I am aware that it is horrible to overeat, but I cannot function well AT ALL unless I am full. If I am in a hotel, what can I do?

  • Imagine her eating a paratha… For her its a No!. Anyways please share thoughts on what to wear on buffet breakfast.

  • I love breakfast. 50 Shades of breakfast could be a book about my life 🙂 Not only Eggs, Yoghurt oder Croissants, sometimes Cake, Ramen, Pizza… all you can imagine 🙂 And always a Cup of Earl Grey.

  • My faaavorite breakfast is cinnamon oatmeal, with soy milk and obviously fruits! I used to drink coffee but now I just drink tea or herbal tea. Much better for hydratation because I drink so much more of it.

  • Only time I usually get to eat a full English cooked breakfast is when I’m at a hotel. So yes I know they are unhealthy but people may want to treat themselves when they are away?
Most of the time I don’t actually eat breakfast as I am a late riser and I cannot eat for an hour or so after I have woken up. But when I do have breakfast at home I like a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes or some fruit. On the odd occasion when I have been out the house in a rush and there was no time to eat and there is no breakfast stuff on hand I have had a packet of crisps for breakfast just to give me the energy I need. I know that’s not healthy but it was that or nothing.

  • Did you mention adding a tip when you sign the bill or pay a cash tip. A tip should always be given when served. Even at buffet if any serv

  • Unfortunately the things we think are common sense are not taught anymore at home , school, or anywhere ‼️ Most children learn by watching whoever is raising them. “Treat others the way that you want to be treated “ but this is NOT evident anymore unfortunately ?

  • i must have a coffee maker in the room, as i need a coffee immediately when i wake up, without it i can do nothing,, all the rest comes after, shower, dressing, make up and break fast

  • Working with the young people I will tell you this is no longer COMMON SENSE – it is much needed. Thank you Anna! I was taught from the "book of etiquette" – I don't think this is done anymore. This update is much appreciated!

  • I'm glad that being elegant is flexible because coffee comes before absolutely everything in the mornings, even before brushing my teeth. I don't go anywhere until I have at least one cup, and that isn't going to change, but I am certainly interested in generally improving my etiquite.

  • Most affluent people I've met actually have terrible manners and unfortunate social skills. It's typically people who've been raised correctly and with humility who are the most elegant.

  • Absolutely like your videos and your messages transferred! Wish you all the best and looking forward to learning from you! By these I know I’m on the right track 🙂

  • Thank you so much
I love eating breakfast at 5stars hotel occasionally
Fresh orange juice, eggs omelet, coffee and fresh fruit. when having breakfast at home coffee eggs and steak because now i am trying to have tone body exercising alot for now.

  • Listen a lot of times in life we loose the things that make for common sense especially if you are around the wrong people. Bad company ruins good character.

  • I always make small talk with the room a nice room service guy/ gal. I ask where they are from and make them feel special by telling them how they did a beautiful job with the delivery and presentation. Also, I don’t mix orange juice with milk, right away, acidic and dairy don’t mix well in the tummy.

  • I eat steel cut Quaker Oats everyday fore breakfast, right when I wake up. It’s like medicine for me! ?. Sometimes I sprinkle cold milled flax seed over it! Yum!

  • I on the other hand prefer to take warm food before cold since my stomach doesn't appreciate starting the day on the cold side, lol?

  • hey anna! ur gonna eat all that???????????
how u stay so slim lol?
i always prefer room service to buffet. Especially if ur with ur significant other, so romantic
