How to Copy an Email Template and Choose a Different Data Source

Welcome! This is Kayla from the Blackbaud
NetCommunity team. This video will show how
to change the data source for message within NetCommunity. To begin, we will need to open the existing
message in NetCommunity to copy the existing
message content. In the message editor, we will need to copy the
HTML code used for the message. In order to copy the HTML code for the
message, we will need to click the View tab and
then click the HTML code button. Now we need to copy the message code. We will highlight all of the code, and then right
click our mouse and choose copy from the
menu. Then we will click Cancel. In order to change the data source for the
message, we will need to create a new
template. This can be done by going to the templates area
of NetCommunity and clicking the green button
in the upper left hand corner for New Template. Now we need to finish creating the template. We need to enter appropriate information for the
template such as template name, Subject, From
name, and from address. The subject, from name, and from address can
be changed in the message later. We also need to choose the appropriate data
source. If you aren’t sure which data source to choose,
please refer to our Knowledgebase solution or
blog post. Once we have the information entered in for our
new template, we will save our template. Once the template is saved, we should be back
to the message editor screen. In the message editor, we will need to paste the
HTML code we copied for the message. In order to paste the HTML code for the
message, we will need to click the View tab and
then click the HTML code button. Now we need to paste the message code. We
will right click our mouse and choose paste from
the menu. Then we will click Update. The template should look exactly like our
original message. Now we need to save our
template. We will click the Save button for our newly
created template. Then we will click the New message button to
create a new message based off of the new
template. We will need to name our new message, before
we can save or send it. Then we will click the
Save button for the message. We should now be able to use this message
with a different list type or with merge fields.
