Langston HS Fundraiser happening to renovate first African American High School in Johnson City


FIRST AFRICAN-AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL. CITY COMMISSIONERS APPROVED A TWO POINT THREE MILLION DOLLAR CONTRACT FOR FROM GOINS RASH CAIN, INCORPORATED — A CONTRACTOR OUT OF KINGSPORT. THE PROJECT WILL CONVERT LANGSTON HIGH SCHOOL INTO A MULTICULTURAL COMMUNITY CENTER. THE CITY HAS SET ASIDE ONE POINT EIGHT MILLION DOLLARS FOR THE PROJECT. THE REST WILL BE PAID BY FUNDRAISING. CITY MANAGER PETE PETERSON SAYS THE PROJECT IS WORTH THE MONEY TO PROTECT HISTORY.
