Liverpool news : Liverpool fans deliver classy Peter Crouch gesture… he’ll always be loved by them

The Reds went back to within one point of Manchester City at the Premier League summit with a 4-2 win  Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino both scored twice to cap a fine afternoon for Liverpool, putting an end to their recent woes in front of goal  There was a nice moment from the home supporters when former striker Peter Crouch entered the fray  The lanky forward came on as a substitute for Chris Wood in the 79th minute as Sean Dyche chased the game  And Crouch was met with a standing ovation when he entered the field, as the Liverpool fans welcomed him back nearly eleven years after he left the club for Portsmouth  Crouch had spent eight years with Stoke before matching the January switch to Turf Moor as part of a swap deal for Sam Vokes  The former England international’s most memorable moment in a Reds shirt came when he scored a perfect hat-trick against Arsenal in 2007  He finished that season as the club’s top goalscorer and came off the bench in the Champions League final defeat to AC Milan in Athens  Crouch spent three years on Merseyside and won the FA Cup in 2006 after a dramatic penalty shootout win over West Ham in Cardiff  The reason Liverpool supporters still hold a place in their hearts for Crouch is that he always gave everything for the club during his time there  On the way to the 2006 cup final, he scored a memorable winner against Manchester United when he headed in off the post  There were also two stunning overhead kicks which are still remembered to this day  The 38-year-old scored an emphatic overhead kick against Galatasaray in the Champions League in September 2006  To fan’s delight, it was almost replicated four months later when he scored acrobatically against Bolton  Today he was on the losing side at Anfield and his new side remain amongst the relegation battle  He played a part in Johann Berg Gudmundsson’s strike that restored late hope which was crushed moments later by Mane’s second of the afternoon
