Runway event raises money for charity

it’s safe to say getting results in supporting a good cause never goes out of style and happening this weekend a special runway show will be showing off some of the spring looks from the area’s top boutiques our news 6 team has some pretty good fashion taste so it’s no surprise that some members will be starting their stop in fashion for wishes and we love it joining us now fashion for wishes director and walk for wishes event chair junior tang hall good morning and thanks for being here with morning this is so near and dear to your heart talk to us about your inspiration behind getting involved with grant a wish and Make A Wish and how this is all coming together with fashion you know I started with make-a-wish probably five six years ago I was with another organization we worked with him closely I got to know some of the people there fell in love with the organization and follow well fell in love with the group and especially they asked me to run and their walk for wishes event about three years ago I got involved four years ago in the third the second year they asked me to run the entire walk and we’ve done that in the last four years we’ve raised about a million and a half dollars for a make-a-wish and ran about 187 wishes hence the blue hair so each year my I kind of made a bet to the committee that we raise X amount of dollars I dye my hair blue so after the first year we hit our goal and I figured I might as well keep doing it now this is the third year for fashion form it is so tell us what we can expect this year we’ve got a little bit bigger than what we’ve done in years past we’re holding at the balcony which is at the Cobb theatre movie it’s a downtown movie theater which there’s a built there’s business offices right in front of them and on the 11th floor kind of overlooks downtown Atlanta it’s kind of a wedding venue they do yoga and like salsa dancers up there but it’s a cool really really cool venue it’s 10,000 square feet it’s massive but we’ve got eight different boutiques in line this year seven are female one one men’s line currents who I’m wearing today current firm winner Park and yeah we got some Fletch models from local models to the local celebrity here like Brianna and as well some of us maybe means and so yeah they’ll be walking in the show and maybe fun and how has the event raised money I mean it’s been so successful year after year I mean can you tell us more about that yeah I mean we charge a cover charge it’s it’s $50 for general mission this event of all that money goes roughly back to Make A Wish in the last in the last few years we’ve granted a wish an average cost of a wish is about $8,000 so between the walked and the fashion show we printed a decent amount of wishes they’ll tell us about it you know it’s gonna be a nice you know classy nice that we’ve got an art gallery starting at 7 o’clock to local artists basically the entire show is all local local boutiques local models local celebrity models everyone donates for time just for this event and donate their time back to make a wish and so the money that we raised that nights can go right back to it like I said eight different boutiques each looked each boutique has about eight look so eight different models all kind of strutting their stuff and kind of showing off and showing off some spring looks yeah why do you love combining fashion and art to raise money for this great event I like the idea of putting fun in fundraising and when we started this fashion show a little bit ago it was we were trying to throw a different party and we’re and it was always hard to find outfits so I had some friends that loved fashion I was walking down Park Avenue with them and like I was just talking about doing a fashion show like that’s a great idea let’s figure it out and so the first year was maybe three or four boutiques it’s kind of grown you know eight to ten I think eight to ten to kind of the managing point after that yeah it’s a lot of females to talk to yeah it’s the sweet spot yes exactly I mean make-a-wish has so many great things do you have anything kind of personal and any stories that yeah I got a few you guys have raised yeah there’s a wish shot named Alan he’s an aspiring rapper he wanted to meet mm was it was his wish so on his 16th birthday it was it was taking a little bit longer it’s a cat get to that wish and so he kind of changed his mind and he wanted a sweet 16 kind of like that crib show he’s on them he wanted a really cool party and I’ve got a lot of friends downtown he wanted to have a party at a club and so I called them I called evil and Oh whoo Kelly Rodriguez a good friend of mine and we made it happen and she was part of this very rare that you get to be part of the way if you’re not a wish-granting and so it was actually part of that wish and help grant his sweet 16 birthday party they opened up the club at 6 o’clock and Brooks Brothers dressed them I mean it was really touching because we the walk helped grant his wish so we got to see this Hannah full 360 of the whole lot but we certainly hope that we can at least get one wish granted but you also have sponsorship opportunities literally tell us how to get it yeah the corporate sponsors for the walk I’m obviously it’ll be PR related for their sponsorships and ticket sales officer will go through that so our goal is to get one to two wishes this year yeah and we can do it yes and we have all the information on click Orlando comm thank you very much
