Trump Uses Photo Of Shooting Victim In Fundraising Email

Just when you thought the Trump administration
could not sink any lower, this past weekend, they decided to send out a campaign fundraising
email featuring a picture of a Parkland school shooting survivor in a hospital bed. The message along with that photo said that
Donald Trump is working to keep our schools safe. He’s working to ban bump stocks and increase
background checks for people trying to buy guns. So please, donate to the Trump campaign, and
just in case you forgot, here’s what it looks like when a student gets shot in school. Now, again, this is absolutely disgusting
by the Trump administration. The students at Parkland have already spoken
out and said that it is absolutely atrocious that the president would use this image in
a fundraising email, and they are 100% right. But more importantly, Donald Trump is trying
to gloss over the fact that he is the one, who in February of 2017, rescinded the Obama
era rule that made it more difficult for people with mental health issues to get their hands
on assault rifles and other guns here in the United States. Donald Trump did that, and now we have these
republicans out there saying this is a mental health issue. But you made it easier for them to get the
guns, though. You did that. Don’t sit there now and try to misdirect us,
saying we’ve got to do something about mental health, when the only thing you’ve done on
the issue is make it easier for them to get guns. Donald Trump is doing exactly what republicans
have accused democrats of doing in these situations and he is politicizing it. He is trying to raise money off of this tragedy. There is nothing off limits for a guy like
Donald Trump, even using the image of a person who was just shot in a hospital bed to try
to get people to give money to his campaigns. And as for that bump stock ban, well guess
what, the ATF this past weekend said they don’t even have the authority to ban those
things. So so much for that talking point. As soon as this dies down, if it dies down,
Donald Trump is going to back off all of these proposals that he’s come up with, and that
is why this cannot die down. People have to remain outspoken. These teenagers at that school have to be
heard because if they aren’t, if they’re forgotten, if this issue dies down, so too will the call
for increased gun control here in the United States. They have to keep talking. We all have to keep talking about this, and
we can’t let Donald Trump try to politicize this tragedy in an attempt to raise money
for himself.

  • Like Junior said, dear old dad only see's the color green as in money.. So he doesn't give a damn about us, he only cares about how much he can get in his pocket.. We're his personal piggy bank.. Remember, he said he would run for President in an interview if he lost his fortune.. His words..

  • I haven't seen this e-mail, but assuming you are fairly describing it (which I think you are) it sounds incredibly distasteful and he deserves to be criticized for it. Everything else you say is pretty ridiculous. Trump did not rescind an Obama executive orders that made it easier for Nicholas Cruz buy any firearm. Looking past the unconstitutional nature of Obama using EO's to unilaterally write & pass gun control laws. The "law" Trump rescinded said that anyone receiving social security benefits through an appointed payee can have guns they legally purchased confiscated without due process hearing to decide if that person poses a threat to themselves or others that would justify curtailing their civil liberties, like the right to keep & bear arms. That's it. since Nicholas Cruz is not 65+ and has no payee managing the social security benefits he is not receiving, I fail to see how this made it easier for him to buy gun. You know what could have prevented this, the police, sheriffs & FBI who knew very well this kid was a danger to himself and others who could have gone to a judge and had him flagged in the NICS for closer scrutiny when he went to buy the gun, not to mention the same Sheriffs who Nicholas Cruz called ON HIMSELF about 2 weeks before the shooting, where he told them the death of his mother had him feeling particularly depressed and unstable, whom he told he had bought a gun and that he wanted help. Who he asked to come take away his gun and help him seek help for his depression and anger, before using a term that any criminal profiler or mental health specialist of one kind or another all identify as the ultimate red flag of someone who is not just capable of violence, not even likely to commit some violent act, but a red flag that if not recognized and dealt with IMMEDIATELY makes a violent act in the immediate, immediate future a statistical certainty. "I'm afraid I have no choice" and/or "I am no longer in control of what I do next."
Not only did the police/sheriff he told this to over the phone fail to recognize the certain & imminent danger they should have understood, but the failed to recognize ANY danger. They did not visit him, they did not confiscate the gun he said he intended to use and that he asked them to take, they did not get him the help he explicitly asked for.
Look, what Trump did with this e-mail he sent out sounds like it was a very fucked up. An extreme politicization of this tragedy (even worse, it sounds like standing on graves to raise money) . If your description of the email is accurate, I am just as disgusted by that decision as anyone else. But to say Trump (or by extension, Republicans and/or NRA, who are also being accused failing to stop this, or even being culpable accomplices to this shooting) It is wrong and incredibly unfair. You don't have to like Trump, I don't and you don't have to like what the NRA stand for. But besides Nicholas Cruz himself, there is only one place any blame can be laid. The Broward Sheriffs Depart and Sheriff Scott Israel, who had the power to flag this guy for more careful, thorough scrutiny in the NICS. Who even knew he was depressed & unstable, who he asked to take his gun and get him help and who chose to do nothing. Frankly someone who blames the President, the NRA or an inanimate object, rather than the shooter and those who failed in their duty to be far more despicable than Trump. What you say in this video is even more disrespectful than what trump said in that very disrespectful fund-raiser e-mail…
