YWCA fundraising event benefits the Women’s Center for Economic Opportunity

ON’S BEST WOMEN RESTAURANT OWNERS, CHEFS AND BARTENDERS CAME OUT FOR A NIGHT OF FOOD — FASHION — AND FUN — AT THE FOURTH ANNUAL “POP” EVENT. THE FUNDRAISING EVENT IS HOSTED BY THE Y-W-C-A — WITH ALL PROCEEDS GOING TO THE WOMEN’S CENTER FOR ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY. THE CENTER HELPS TRAIN 2-THOUSAND WOMEN TO GET JOBS, ADVANCE THEIR CAREERS, AND BECOME COMMUNITY LEADERS. RETAILERS WERE OUT AT TONIGHT’S EVENT — HELD AT THE FRANCIS MC- CLELLAND COMMUUNITY CENTER. ATTENDEES ALSO GOT TO PARTICIPATE IN A SILENT AUCTION, AND WATCH A FASHION SHOW. MANY OF THE WOMEN WHO BENEFIT FROM THE PROCEEDS ARE EITHER IMMIGRANTS OR RECOVERING FROM SUBSTANCE ABUSE. MORE THAN 60-PERCENT ARE ALSO DOMESTIC ABUSE SURVIVORS.
